Hotel Winneshiek, a historic Rebound Hospitality property, was honored to be chosen as the place to stay by President Barack Obama during his Midwest tour in August, 2011. Following speaking engagements in Cannon Falls, Minnesota and at the Seed Saver’s Exchange “Town Hall Meeting” venue in Decorah, the President retired to his room at the Hotel for a special meal prepared in-house by Albert’s Restaurant.
The Hotel was contacted by White House staff two weeks prior to the President’s visit. Preparations were immediately launched in tandem with the Secret Service, White House staff and Hotel staff to assure that available guest, press, boardroom & conference rooms were secured and properly prepared.
Numereous White House and Secret Service personnel commented on the excellence of Hotel Winneshiek’s accommodations and staff, the beautiful surroundings, interesting shops and events — and the friendly people here.
